Our Story
The story behind the CHEATDAYLAND dream...
CheatDayLand is more than just the story of an emerging business; it is about the incredible bond between talented siblings and the challenges they faced to innovate the museum.
In 2017, founder Rubi Rymenmy traveled to Japan where she experienced her first interactive pop-up museum. Inspired by the creativity and innovation of immersion art, she returned to Los Angeles with a dream. With their love and background of fitness, the concept of their pop-up museum “CheatDayLand” was born: a tribute to the infamous “cheat day” in the fitness scene.
Rubi and her sister Yolanda began to conceptualize and develop the popup museum business idea while brothers Nick Reyes and Enrique Reyes used graphic and visual design to create interactive art for each room of the museum. They spent hours upon hours drawing food that could be actualized into experiential art. Manuel Reyes, the architect, designed the layout and pieced together the art in a tangible landscape that would set the stage for how this museum would connect. Together, the siblings brought their dream into a three-dimensional experience.
Getting investors was the next step. After overcoming the odds, the dream of becoming the first Latinos to open a pop-up museum became a reality!
Their vision extends out further than the artistic endeavor of the museum, it also serves as a platform to inspire others facing similar challenges to dream big and work hard to create the world they envision. Rubi imagined a space where adults could awaken their inner child in this family-oriented environment. The museum is their contribution to their community, to inspire, and bring joy to those around them. Long term, they want to reach people from around the globe and create a space where all people can experience art past the visual eye and truly connect and become a part of an artistic display and be inspired.
